The German Partnership for Sustainable Textiles was established in 2014. The multi-stakeholder initiative, comprising the textile and garment industry, retailers, trade unions, civil society, standards organisations and the German government, aims to pool the strength and expertise of its members to bring about social, ecological and economic improvements alongside the entire textile supply chain.

twentyfifty was engaged in 2016 to support the set-up of the social dimension of the initiative’s review process measuring the members’ progress towards its objectives.

In 2017, twentyfifty delivered the following project outcomes in support of the Partnership:

  • Supporting an internal multi-stakeholder working group charged with the development of the coalition’s implementation strategy for its social objectives,
  • Developing webinars and guidance documents for the coalition’s stakeholder groups with a focus on human rights due diligence in the textile supply chains and specific risk areas such as living wages or freedom of association and collective bargaining,
  • Providing strategic advice to the Partnership’s secretariat,
  • Designing and delivering training on due diligence in textile supply chains for the partnership’s business members.
