Chain | Labour Standards in the Electronics Industry Following a respected NGO’s report on labour
rights within the electronics industry, the sector developed a set of
principles for suppliers – The Electronic Industry Code of Conduct
(EICC). After adoption of the code, the industry recognised the need for
an industry wide approach to supplier self-assessment and looked for a
system to support this. With our support, our strategic partner (Achilles
Ltd) was chosen as the preferred supplier. We worked with Achilles and
the members of EICC and Global e-Sustainability Initiative to establish
the specifications for an on-line system that gathers and manages data
on supplier’s social, ethical and environmental performance. |
